In case this encourages you, here are a few thoughts from one of my moves: I’m not sure this is normal or not, but this is how it goes: I wake up in the morning, still half groggy and half asleep, lying in bed, and I think: There is no way I can do this….

Comfort zones grow slowly, but when they are big you are so, so free —
The power of the mind.
Whether we are talking about travel or really any dream you want to do, there is no question that the quality of your thoughts will determine much of your life. This isn’t a gimmicky, “only positive vibes” kind of attitude. This is a, “hey, let’s not pretend our thought life doesn’t exist.” Let’s train our minds to be healthier. Let’s dig in the dirt and go deep and really get to the root issues. Let’s bravely look our greatest fears in the face and say, “You’re not stopping me anymore.” But it is a process. One pile of dirt at a time.
Learning the hard way
I have to learn the hard way. I try, I try so hard to learn the easy way. I read, I read a lot, ask the kids who asked me what I was reading on the beach yesterday and if it was The Notebook to which I awkwardly replied… no… it’s nonfiction. I like books…
Never too late
When I started training for dance at the age of 21, most people told me it was too late. Too late for what? Five years later, dance is my full-time profession. Between teaching classes, working at a studio, studying choreography, being involved in my own developmental classes and peer dance groups. I spend an average…
neuroplasticity
Woah. Why am I about to talk about this?Because it affects everything. I’m no neuroscientist, but basically from what I’ve read your brain has connections and pathways. Some are so worn, the way you’ve thought for your whole life, that when a new little thought forms, it slides right down without even thinking, splashing in…
Confidence: fake it until you make it
Alright, sista. Get your mean face on. I used to laugh when I would realize how differently I walk down the street in Quito, Ecuador, a city of three million people where I stick out like a sore thumb versus how I am in the town I grew up in. I look rude. I’m not…

The world is not…
Alright United-Statesians. I have a bone to pick with you (us.) Most of the world sees our country as one of the most powerful, influential countries on this planet. And that is probably true. But we also have some pretty incorrect assumptions about the rest of the world. I’m a little embarrassed to even write…
Why you shouldn’t travel
Please hear the satirical tone in this writing. This might be a little offensive, but I am just trying to make a point as clearly as possible, ironically while saying it backwards. At the end of the day I think everyone benefits from travel, and if this article describes you, traveling actually might be the…
Travel vs. Vacation
I gotta clear something up. When I refer to travel, I am not referring to flying to an all-inclusive resort in Cancun and swimming in the pool and drinking piña coladas. I’m not referring to doing a Disney cruise off the coast of Florida. I’m not even referring to going to some destination spa in…
