Not every dream happens overnight.
I’m in this weird place right now where I decided to go on a long, indefinite backpacking trip. Yet I am finishing out my semester of dance, staying at my job I love a little longer, spending time with family and friends a little longer.
And it freaks me out because I’m afraid I won’t go. I want to just buy the ticket and do it now, before I fall in love, before I change, before I don’t want to leave.
But some things take time.
And some things don’t happen overnight.
And I know too many people who say they will do something
Who say they will pursue their dreams
And they never do
They never do
They never do
The job gets in the way, or the relationship gets in the way, or their friends’ opinions get in the way, or their own desire fades and changes when the prize isn’t right in front of them and they are not feeling how it is feeling.
I won’t let that be me, Lord willing.
So what is the difference?
Maybe that we are always moving forward, that we are either always growing or shrinking, nothing is stagnant. You’re either moving forward or moving back.
So what am I pursuing now,
And how am I preparing for what is next?
For me that looks like pursuing my creativity this season (I think). Of writing, dancing, creating, pottery, music. Growing in those skills that are a little harder to hit on the road.
And keeping my eyes on the prize, making the list of each step that must get done before I fly off with my backpack and doing it. One step at a time.
Just cause you don’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not true.
