Take a taxi to teleférico, then start the ascent up.
It will be hard to find a ride down or a cab at the bottom of the hill, it’s best to have the number of a taxi driver or arrange a certain pick up time ahead of time.
You can also take an Uber there. I’ve been loving Uber lately.
We call this kind of terrain el páramo – Google it and you’ll see – the little fluffy hard bushes, the greenish brown color, everything.
They say there is a lot of wildlife up there; I always chuckled at this being from Wisconsin where we see more squirrels and deer and rabbits in two seconds than I’ve seen all the times I went up el teleférico combined. It always seemed almost empty to me, still, a welcome escape from the clustered city below…
To start, you ride up in a cable car, a weirdly silent ride that can be a little intimidating.
