To engage is vulnerable

I confess this has nothing to do with travel.

But it’s my current adventure.

Just left a master class led by a few of the Ailey II dancers – incredible, capable artists and dancers.

And I’m a little inspired right now.

Get into your body and out of your head. Engage.

Dance from the moment you walk into the room. You’re not dancing for your teacher or for your classmate or for the audience or for anybody. You’re dancing for you. Because you love it.

He talked about warm ups, how the technique you use in warm ups is the same that you will dance with. It’s like a muscle. You’ve got to practice now. Your artistry starts right now.

How to not lose the love – to keep it fresh.

To give yourself permission to move a little, to feel your body, so much freedom and permission to explore what feels good to you and your body and that this is a safe space. To explore and investigate.

It’s interesting that all the incredible and successful dancers have this mentality.

There is no arriving, just a never-ending exploration.

No rules, just freedom and joy.

No later, just now.

And joy.
