I suddenly realized why I’m so invested in Taylor Swift’s journey as well as her romance with Travis Kelsey. Maybe you’ll relate —
- Taylor represents female power
As women, Taylor Swift is inspiring. She has risen up to show that women can be powerful and smart and beautiful and sexy and soft and emotional.
She represents what every woman knows she has inside of her.
She breaks through the boxes society keeps trying to smoosh women into – either being soft and feminine while lacking power, or being powerful in a seemingly masculine way while sacrificing allure and softness.
Taylor smashes through all this and is a symbol of it all: a glorious, dazzling human being who is unapologetically woman and yet unapologetically exactly who she is, with seemingly little corruption from a very opinionated society on what a woman should be.
I know we don’t know her, but she seems genuine, shrewd, and smart.
2. Taylor/Travis represents the hope for a healthy relationship with two equals
Now for the Kelce romance –
To see this icon of a woman absolutely dazzling, and simultaneously seemingly loved and supported unconditionally by a manly man is, well… enough to make a woman want to scream with happiness. She isn’t dimming her shine AT ALL for this guy. And he’s not dimming his light for her, either.
In fact, they’re shining more brightly together. No one is insecure nor tearing the other down. She isn’t celebrated just for her physical beauty, but her intelligence, power, and shrewdness.
He isn’t celebrated just for his physical strength, although that is there. He is celebrated for his goofiness, his friendship bracelets, his vulnerability.
And the whole thing just seems refreshingly human.
A guy who is unquestionably a man, who can also give friendship bracelets and giggle and say how amazing she is — well, it’s just giving all of us ladies (who aspire to dazzle) hope.
I’m not saying love her music or become a Swiftie, but just appreciate the impact she is having on society. Although all celebrity obsession is a bit weird, appreciate the waves she is making for women in the world. At least appreciate that.
